Virtual Tour of Robotics Genome Editing Lab

April 26, 2022, 5:30 pm -
6:30 pm

The Laboratory for Genomics Research at UCSF works on building and scaling up CRISPR-based genome editing tools and cell engineering approaches.

Join this virtual tour and see a fully automated high-throughput cell culture system with self-contained robotic arms to access the incubator, microscope, liquid handler, and other equipment.

Event Hosts

The goal of the Laboratory for Genomics Research (LGR) is to be a one-of-a-kind environment for collaboration between researchers at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), the University of California Berkeley (UCB), and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) committed to developing and deploying next-generation CRISPR technologies. The LGR represents a novel hybrid model that unites CRISPR pioneers with industry expertise under a single roof to work on projects both together and independently. Ultimately the aim is to deepen our understanding of genetics, discover new targets, and create next-generation technologies at scale that will become future standard practice for researchers across academia and industry.

COVID Safety

The Bay Area Science Festival will manage all in-person events with the health, safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers, hosts, exhibitors, and guests in mind. In response to COVID-19, we will be implementing public health requirements for all event hosts and attendees in accordance with local and state guidelines in order to celebrate science safely throughout the Bay Area.

The Bay Area Science Festival encourages you to get vaccinated, wear a mask and practice social distancing. Be sure to check back for updated and more detailed COVID safety information prior to attending.

Thank You for Supporting BASF

We strive to make all Bay Area Science Festival events free, when possible. To produce the Festival, we must annually raise hundreds of thousands of dollars. Every donation helps us make this important work possible.
